“She’s the apple of my eye.” What part
of the eye is the “apple”? Originally,
it meant the middle part that opens and
closes; the aperture of the eye. The
Latin word for “opening” is aperīre
which turned into apple, somehow. Now
we call it the pupil.
What is so special about the middle of
your eye? It is about the most
sensitive part of your body. I learned
that the hard way the first time I put
contacts in my eyes.
Did you know that God has a sensitive
“pupil”? When the Bible speaks of how
God cared for His loved one, it says
this: “He encircled him, He
cared for him, He guarded him as the
pupil of His eye.” (Deuteronomy 32:10)
And in another place: “he who
touches you, touches the apple of His
eye.” (Zechariah 2:8 NASB)
How many sensitive “eyes” does God
have? As many as there are people in
this world. For God loves all His
children. So, when it comes to you, God
is super sensitive. He hurts over you.
